Moscow will host a cultural celebration of the ancient Iranian winter solstice holiday Shab-e Yalda on 21 December, featuring a live concert by Iran’s renowned Ronak folk ensemble. The event highlights the symbolic meaning of Yalda as the triumph of light over darkness and is supported by TV BRICS as the main information partner.

Guests will experience live performances using traditional Iranian instruments, ritual rhythms, and regional folk music, presented in authentic stage costumes. The Ronak ensemble is known for representing the diverse musical heritage of multiple Iranian regions, offering audiences an immersive cultural experience. The event is open to the public.

Masoud Ahmadvand, Head of the Cultural Representation at the Iranian Embassy in Russia, described Shab-e Yalda as one of Iran’s oldest and most revered traditions, rooted in family unity, poetry, and cultural continuity. The Moscow celebration aims to convey the atmosphere of the longest night of the year, when Iranians traditionally gather with loved ones to mark the beginning of a new solar cycle.
