Xiaomi achieved EV profitability in under two years with a ¥700 M profit driven by strong brand momentum and rapid SU7 demand, surpassing Tesla’s timeline while raising its 2025 delivery target to about 400 K units as it scales aggressively.

Xiaomi Corp. leveraged its strong consumer-electronics brand to accelerate its electric vehicle (EV) push. The company reported a ¥700 million (≈US$98 million) profit for its EV and artificial-intelligence division in the quarter ended Sept. 30, achieving profitability just 19 months after launching the Xiaomi SU7 sedan.

This milestone places Xiaomi ahead of Tesla Inc. in terms of timeline to profitability in the EV business. Analysts attribute this faster pace to Xiaomi’s existing customer base, integrated ecosystem and lower cost structure compared to traditional automakers.

Going forward, Xiaomi has increased its 2025 EV delivery target to roughly 400 K units, riding momentum and aiming to consolidate its presence in the EV market.
