Xi emphasized that correcting the course of China-U.S. relations requires steady guidance and the elimination of interference and sabotage. He called the recent Geneva meeting between the two countries’ economic and trade teams a positive step, widely welcomed both domestically and internationally, proving that dialogue and cooperation are the only correct path. Xi stressed that China approaches the talks with both sincerity and principles, and both sides should honor their agreements.
Xi also warned the United States to handle the Taiwan issue with caution to prevent a few separatist elements from dragging the two countries into conflict. He called for expanded exchanges in diplomacy, trade, military, and law enforcement to enhance mutual understanding and reduce misunderstandings. Xi noted that China has earnestly implemented the Geneva agreement and expects the U.S. to view the progress objectively and lift its negative measures.
During the call, Trump expressed great respect for President Xi and emphasized the importance of U.S.-China relations, stating that the U.S. welcomes China’s strong economic growth. He called the Geneva talks successful and confirmed Washington’s readiness to work with Beijing to fully implement the agreement.
