Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin held high-level talks in Beijing focused on the West Asia crisis, energy security, and strategic cooperation. Both leaders warned against “power politics” and growing instability, in remarks widely linked to US pressure on Iran. China and Russia also reaffirmed their commitment to stronger cooperation within BRICS and the development of a multipolar global order.
meeting between Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin in Beijing took place as tensions surrounding Iran and the broader West Asia crisis remain at the center of global attention. During the talks, both leaders emphasized opposition to “power politics” and unilateral actions while warning against the expansion of regional instability. International observers described the remarks as an indirect reference to growing US pressure on Iran and rising tensions in the Persian Gulf.
Xi Jinping stated that the world must not move toward the “law of the jungle” and stressed that regional crises should be resolved through dialogue and political solutions. Meanwhile, Vladimir Putin said relations between Russia and China have reached an “unprecedented level,” adding that external pressure would not be able to stop strategic cooperation between the two countries. Putin also described China as Russia’s “reliable strategic partner.”
Energy security, maritime stability, financial cooperation, and developments in West Asia were among the key topics discussed during the meeting. The talks came only days after Donald Trump visited China and amid growing reports of internal disagreements within BRICS over the Iran conflict and regional tensions. In this context, both sides reaffirmed support for deeper cooperation within BRICS, the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, and the expansion of trade using national currencies.
