Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi begins a two-day official visit to South Korea on August 19, marking his first official trip to the country in five years. The visit comes at a significant moment for regional diplomacy, as Seoul and Beijing seek to strengthen bilateral communication and manage security issues on the Korean Peninsula.
During the visit, Wang is scheduled to hold talks and attend a dinner with South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Hyun. He will also meet National Security Adviser Wi Sung-lac, with discussions expected to cover China–South Korea relations, developments on the Korean Peninsula, and wider regional and international issues.
South Korean President Lee Jae Myung is scheduled to receive Wang at the Blue House on August 20. The talks are expected to address bilateral relations and regional affairs, while Wang’s visit also comes ahead of the APEC summit in Shenzhen in November and could help prepare the ground for further high-level exchanges between China and South Korea.
