Abu Dhabi has solidified its position as a regional leader in organ transplantation. Since the launch of the National Programme for Donation and Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissue in 2017, more than 1,090 successful operations have been carried out. In 2024 alone, 290 transplants were performed, including heart, lung, pancreas, liver, and kidney transplants, even in infants as young as five months.
Emirati doctors have increasingly relied on advanced robotic systems to ensure greater precision in complex surgeries. This technology has allowed for safer and more accurate procedures. Health officials emphasized that the combination of high-quality medicine, modern equipment, and innovative treatment approaches has driven the country’s success.
Meanwhile, Iran has made significant medical advances of its own. The country has launched the production of nanomedicines to treat cancer and leukemia, making therapies more affordable and accessible. Iran has also become a leading producer of human tissue-based heart valves, reducing reliance on imports and shortening patient waiting times.
