On May 4, 2025, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, announced that Artificial Intelligence (AI) will become a mandatory subject in all public schools across the country, from kindergarten to Grade 12, starting from the next academic year.
The AI curriculum will encompass seven key areas: foundational concepts, data and algorithms, software usage, ethical awareness, real-world applications, innovation and project design, and policy and community engagement. This initiative aims to equip students with both technical proficiency and ethical understanding of AI.
To ensure effective implementation, teachers will undergo specialized training to deliver the AI curriculum. The program will be integrated into existing subjects such as Computing, Creative Design, and Innovation, without requiring additional teaching hours.
