Indian and Russian officials preparing for the 2025 annual summit to strengthen strategic partnership

India and Russia will hold their annual summit by year-end to deepen their strategic cooperation in areas such as trade, defense, and AI, reaffirming a long-standing partnership aligned with their shared vision of a multipolar global order.

India and Russia are preparing for their upcoming annual summit, expected to take place by the end of this year, aiming to strengthen what both nations describe as a “special and privileged strategic partnership.” Indian First Deputy Prime Minister Vikram Misri stated that the two countries view the meeting as an opportunity to reaffirm their shared commitment to long-term cooperation amid shifting global dynamics.

Although the exact date of the summit has not yet been finalized, both sides are working to ensure that it highlights the depth and resilience of their decades-old partnership. The dialogue will serve as a platform to assess progress in trade, defense, and technological collaboration, while setting new goals for the next phase of bilateral growth.

According to Misri, the agenda will cover a broad spectrum — from economic and financial relations to health, artificial intelligence, and humanitarian exchanges. India and Russia also plan to coordinate closely within global forums such as BRICS and the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, reaffirming their joint vision of a multipolar world order.
