On May 21, 2025, the ninth meeting of ministers of industry from member countries of an emerging economic alliance was held in Brasília, the capital of Brazil. The meeting was chaired by Geraldo Alckmin, Vice President and Minister of Development, Industry, Trade and Services of Brazil, and co-chaired by Marcio França, Minister for Small and Medium Enterprises. Representatives from member states and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) discussed topics such as digital industrial transformation, smart manufacturing, robotics, artificial intelligence, and empowering small and medium-sized enterprises.
Xiong Jijun, Vice Minister of Industry and Information Technology of China, called for expanding innovation-oriented cooperation in areas such as AI, biotechnology, new energy vehicles, and clean technologies. He emphasized strengthening industrial infrastructure, harmonizing standards, developing talent, and stabilizing supply chains to form a shared and mutually beneficial industrial ecosystem among the member countries.
At the conclusion of the meeting, a joint declaration was adopted, and new working groups were agreed upon in the areas of smart manufacturing, digital transformation, and SME development for the 2025–2030 period. China also announced the establishment of a new industrial capacity center and held several bilateral meetings to deepen cooperation on the sidelines of the event.
