Chinese Premier Li Qiang meets Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to deepen Egypt-China economic and geopolitical cooperation.

Chinese Premier Li Qiang visited Egypt and signed deals on infrastructure, green energy, and tourism. Egypt agreed to convert part of its $8B debt to China into direct investments. China also pledged to engage in resolving the Gaza crisis, signaling deeper regional involvement.

Chinese Premier Li Qiang visited Cairo and met with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and senior officials to expand strategic cooperation. Agreements were signed in key sectors including infrastructure, electric vehicle manufacturing, renewable energy, and tourism.

With around USD 8B in debt to China, Egypt agreed to convert part of its debt into direct investment. China is already involved in major projects like the Suez Economic Zone, Benban Solar Park, and the construction of Egypt’s New Administrative Capital, and aims to boost Chinese tourism.

Li also expressed China’s readiness to play a more active role in resolving the Gaza crisis. The visit highlights China’s growing ambition to strengthen its economic and geopolitical influence in the Middle East.
