A major international pharmacy conference in Cairo has concluded, with a central focus on integrating artificial intelligence into traditional Chinese medicine. The event, co-organized by the Egyptian Chinese University and a leading Chinese medical association, brought together experts to explore how digital technologies can modernize long-established healing practices. Discussions emphasized AI’s role in enabling data-driven drug discovery and creating more personalized treatment plans for patients.
Conference president Mina Tadros stated the goal was to bridge Western pharmaceutical science and traditional Chinese approaches, aiming to introduce these methods more widely in Egypt and beyond. The accompanying exhibition featured a dozen Egyptian and four major Chinese companies specializing in pharmaceuticals and medical equipment, highlighting the commercial and research interest in this fusion.
Senior Chinese expert Zhu Chaoping pointed to Egypt’s strategic location and its partnerships under the Belt and Road Initiative as key factors for its potential role in globalizing traditional Chinese medicine. The forum is expected to lead to new joint research projects between Egyptian and Chinese institutions, supporting public health advancements in genetics, vaccine development, and digital drug manufacturing.
