Dubai electric air taxi eVTOL during test flight over urban landscape

Dubai completes first eVTOL air taxi test flight and aims to launch regular services in 2026. The vehicle carries four passengers plus pilot, runs on battery, reaches 320 km/h, and flies up to 160 km. Dedicated ground infrastructure and city-wide routes are underway to support future urban mobility.

In Dubai, the first successful test flight of a four-passenger electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) air taxi has been completed, marking a significant milestone in urban air mobility. Dubai’s upcoming passenger services for this vehicle are scheduled for 2026, with infrastructure already 60% built and designed to handle 42K take-offs and 170K annual passengers.

The air taxi reaches speeds up to 320 km/h and covers distances of up to 160 km on battery power, offering a quiet, zero-emission alternative to conventional transport. The project includes a ground station spanning four levels (parking, take-off/landing, cargo, passenger) and three additional landing pads across the city.

An agreement with the Roads and Transport Authority Dubai sets four initial routes within the city and plans to expand to other emirates and regional cities. The development signals Dubai’s ambition to lead in next-generation transport systems and reshape urban mobility.
