Brazil plans to raise $4B in climate finance with investors like TPG and Brookfield. BNDES will contribute 5B reais, aiming for a total 20B reais fund. Capital deployment is set for early 2026, ahead of COP30.

Brazil is in talks with major global investors such as TPG and Brookfield to raise $4B for climate-related projects. This push, led by Brazil’s national development bank BNDES, comes ahead of the COP30 summit in 2025.

BNDES plans to inject 5B reais as seed funding, while selected asset managers are expected to raise three times that amount from private sources. The total target of 20B reais ($3.63B) will fund initiatives to combat climate change.

Firms like Alterra, BlackRock, Just Climate, and Lightrock are also being considered. Proposals are due by the end of October, with final fund managers to be selected in early 2026. Capital deployment is scheduled for the first half of 2026.
