Nguya FLNG vessel built in China for Eni’s LNG project in the Republic of Congo.

China launched its largest FLNG unit, Nguya, for Eni’s Congo project. The vessel can produce 2.4M tons of LNG annually with massive storage capacity. It marks a boost for Africa’s energy growth and China’s offshore influence.

China has launched its largest domestically built floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) facility, the Nguya FLNG, marking a milestone in offshore energy technology. The massive vessel, built by Wison New Energies, measures 376 meters long and 60 meters wide, capable of producing 2.4M tons of LNG annually.

The Nguya FLNG will support Italy’s energy company Eni in developing its LNG project in the Republic of Congo. The unit carries storage capacity for 180K cubic meters of LNG and 45K cubic meters of LPG, showcasing China’s ability to deliver world-class offshore infrastructure.

This deployment not only enhances Eni’s African operations but also strengthens China’s role as a global supplier of advanced energy solutions. With Africa’s LNG demand rising, the partnership highlights how cross-continental cooperation is shaping the future of energy security.
