BYD is advancing construction of its global research and development center in Shenzhen, China, with an estimated investment of 20B yuan. Located in Longgang District, the project is designed to strengthen the company’s capabilities in new-energy vehicles, batteries, intelligent driving systems and advanced automotive technologies.
The complex covers approximately 650K square meters, while its planned total floor area will exceed 3.3M square meters. The development will combine large-scale research facilities, laboratories, offices and accommodation for technical personnel, creating an integrated environment for technology development and commercialization.
The project reflects BYD’s strategy of supporting global expansion through sustained investment in domestic innovation. Once completed, the center is expected to rank among the world’s largest research hubs dedicated to new-energy vehicles and further reinforce Shenzhen’s position as a major center for advanced automotive technology.
