BRICS is building a more connected ecosystem for SMEs by improving access to finance, technology, international markets, and global supply chains.
BRICS is advancing new initiatives to strengthen the participation of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in international trade. The 2026 agenda focuses on improving access to trade finance, cross-border payments, technology, and international markets.
Key initiatives include invoice discounting, export credit assessment, digital trade documentation, customs cooperation, logistics connectivity, and the BRICS MSME Cooperation Portal, alongside the Global Value Chain Action Plan for 2026–2030.
For businesses, these developments could reduce barriers to cross-border trade and strengthen connections between SMEs, international buyers, financing channels, technology providers, and global supply chains. Several mechanisms remain under development and depend on implementation across BRICS members.
