At the 17th BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Chinese Premier Li Qiang called for an urgent overhaul of global governance, blaming hegemony and mistrust as the root causes of today’s global crises. He stressed that only through unity among Global South nations and resistance to power politics can a just and stable world be achieved.
Reaffirming China’s “consultation, joint construction, and shared benefits” approach, Li urged equal dialogue, economic cooperation, and cultural respect. He announced the creation of a BRICS innovation center and a new “Golden Heron” scholarship to foster industrial and tech talent across member states.
Li called on BRICS countries to lead the transformation of the global system—toward one that is fairer, more efficient, and less dominated by traditional powers. China, he declared, stands ready to walk this path hand in hand with its BRICS partners.
