Leaders of BRICS and Indonesia highlighting renewable energy projects and global clean energy transition.

BRICS nations are powering a historic shift toward renewable energy. Indonesia’s billion-dollar green projects put it at the heart of this transformation. Together, BRICS can lead the world into a sustainable, inclusive energy future

Indonesia and BRICS nations are emerging as the driving force of the global energy transition, with the COP28 target to triple renewables by 2030 within reach if their momentum continues. A new Net Zero Policy Lab report highlights that BRICS, responsible for over half of global emissions, is already channeling more investment into clean energy than fossil fuels.

Indonesia is taking bold steps, from a US$10B green industrial zone with Singapore to building a 150 GWh-per-year EV battery plant. These projects, combined with its vast nickel resources, position the country as a future hub of renewable technologies and sustainable manufacturing.

The report calls on BRICS to build on this positive momentum by deepening industrial cooperation, expanding green finance, and strengthening inclusive governance. For Indonesia, advancing biofuel reforms and aligning trade and technology policies can further solidify its role as a global leader in the clean energy revolution.
