
Global South diplomats met in Moscow under Brazil’s BRICS chairmanship. Focus was on humanitarian ties, culture, and inclusive governance. TV BRICS played a central role in global media and cultural cooperation.
Diplomats from Global South countries gathered in Moscow to discuss the expansion of humanitarian cooperation within BRICS, marking the conclusion of Brazil’s BRICS chairmanship. The ceremonial reception was jointly organised by the Embassy of Brazil in Russia, TV BRICS International Media Network, and the M. I. Rudomino All-Russia State Library for Foreign Literature, with representatives from more than 15 countries, including BRICS members and partner states, in attendance.
Brazil’s Ambassador to Russia, Sergio Rodrigues dos Santos, outlined key outcomes of Brazil’s chairmanship, held under the theme of strengthening Global South cooperation for inclusive and sustainable governance. He highlighted initiatives promoting the use of local currencies, the adoption of the BRICS Declaration on Artificial Intelligence Governance, and the Framework Declaration on Climate Finance, as well as the introduction of formal criteria for BRICS partner country participation, first established at the 2024 Kazan Summit.
Speakers also emphasised the cultural dimension of cooperation. The BRICS+ Information and Cultural Media Centre was praised for fostering intercultural dialogue, while TV BRICS confirmed continued support for upcoming chairmanships, including India in 2026. The evening concluded with a concert by Brazilian group Choro de Bola. In 2025, TV BRICS produced around 200 original materials in 11 languages, distributed across 18 countries, reinforcing Brazil’s cultural, media, and educational outreach within the BRICS+ framework.
