
BRICS members are meeting in New Delhi to advance cooperation on climate resilience, circular economy, sustainable development, and environmental priorities.
India is hosting the BRICS Environment Working Group meetings in New Delhi on August 17–18, 2026, bringing together senior officials and ministers from member countries to strengthen cooperation on shared environmental and climate priorities. The meetings are being held at Bharat Mandapam under India’s 2026 BRICS Chairship theme, “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability.n
On August 17, senior officials from the BRICS Environment Working Group and the Contact Group on Climate Change and Sustainable Development are discussing priority areas including sustainable lifestyles, afforestation and ecosystem restoration, disaster resilience, circular economy, and climate adaptation. These discussions are intended to prepare the groundwork for ministerial-level cooperation.
The 12th BRICS Environment Ministers’ Meeting will take place on August 18, with ministers expected to consider an outcome document and identify areas for deeper cooperation among BRICS members. The meeting reflects the bloc’s broader effort to connect economic development with environmental resilience and sustainable growth.
