Fernando Haddad told the BRICS finance summit that no country can face global crises alone. He outlined Brazil’s three priorities: economic cooperation, environmental protection, and social justice. Haddad called BRICS a central force in reshaping the global financial order.
The BRICS finance summit in Rio de Janeiro became a platform for Brazil’s Finance Minister Fernando Haddad to deliver a bold message: no single country can solve today’s global challenges alone. Stressing the urgency of global cooperation, Haddad called for “a 21st-century multilateralism” that goes beyond political alliances to tackle economic inequality, climate change, and broken supply chains.
Under Brazil’s 2025 BRICS presidency, Haddad presented three pillars: economic cooperation and trade integration, environmental sustainability through a proposed “Tropical Forests Forever Fund,” and social inclusion policies focused on food security and equitable growth. These initiatives align with the bloc’s push for a new model of global governance.
Highlighting the bloc’s expansion with members like Indonesia, Iran, and the UAE, Haddad argued that BRICS is now a strategic force capable of reshaping the global financial order. He emphasized the need to reform the IMF and other institutions, asserting that “sustainable re-globalization” must replace outdated, one-sided systems.
