Brazil increased EV charging stations by 14% in six months, now totaling nearly 17K points. About 1,500 municipalities are covered, but demand is still growing faster than infrastructure. Experts call for more investment to meet decarbonisation goals and global EV trends.

Brazil is rapidly growing its electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure in response to rising demand. Between February and August 2025, the number of charging stations jumped by 14%, reaching nearly 17K units nationwide. Six months earlier, this figure was closer to 15K.

The expansion has also widened geographic coverage, with around 1,500 municipalities now offering charging infrastructure—10% more than at the start of the year. Despite this progress, the pace of EV adoption is outstripping infrastructure growth, leaving about 18 vehicles per station on average.

Experts highlight that while the expansion is promising, greater investment is needed. They stress that Brazil must accelerate development to align with decarbonisation targets and global shifts in the EV industry, ensuring the charging network can keep up with demand.
